Child Support and Spousal Support
Child Support
Child support refers to money one parent pays the other to help cover costs of caring for your child(ren). Most courts in the Bay Area use a program called a DissoMaster to calculate this figure. While several factors can be used in a DissoMaster, the ones that make the biggest difference are the timeshare percentage of the children and the respective incomes of each of the parents.
Spousal Support
Spousal support refers to a figure that the higher-income earner spouse pays the lower-income earner spouse with the goal of putting him or her in an as similar situation as enjoyed during the marriage.
